Press Release – Pedestrian Fatality

Grant Valley Township - Beltrami County, MN: An adult male pedestrian was struck on Division Street NW, west of Bemidji on Sunday, June 21, 2026. The male party suffered multiple injuries and died on scene. 

On June 21, 2026, at approximately 10:43pm the Beltrami County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a male party who was struck by a vehicle on Division Street NW. Beltrami County Deputies, Bemidji Police Officers and emergency personnel responded and began providing lifesaving efforts. After extensive efforts, the male party, identified as 65-year-old Floyd Cloud of Bemidji, was pronounced deceased on scene. 

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 56-year-old Robert Ortez of Bemidji. Ortez remained on scene after the crash and fully cooperated with law enforcement. There were no signs of impairment from the driver.  The Minnesota State Patrol responded and will be assisting with the crash reconstruction.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Bemidji Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, North Country First Responders and Bemidji Ambulance Service.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
