Press Release: Ayotte Missing Person Investigation

Sugarbush Township; Beltrami County, MN - The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office recently completed a methodical search of a property in Sugarbush Township as part of the continuing investigation into the disappearance of Kevin Ayotte. Kevin was three years old when he disappeared in September 1982. The search was prompted by new information received by investigators.

The property search was conducted carefully to identify and preserve any potential evidence. Although the search of the property has concluded, investigators continue to evaluate information and complete follow-up work associated with the case. No determination has been made, and additional details will be released when doing so will not compromise the investigation.

Kevin’s disappearance has had a lasting impact on his family, friends, and the community. The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to determining what happened to Kevin and providing answers to those affected by his disappearance.
